With the surging popularity of the mobile app Uber, which allows you to book a private car and driver just by using your smartphone, many stories have gone viral on the Internet. We’ve all heard of the singing Uber driver who left his passengers speechless due to his raw talent, or the driver who brings adorable dogs along with him during his trips and lets the passengers hold them.
However, this particular driver had no gimmicks. He went viral solely because of his beautiful story.
His story was shared by a passenger named Bea Tan. She posted it on her Facebook page and touched the hearts of thousands of netizens.
According to her, she was going to Taguig from Pasig during a weekday rush hour. The traffic was really bad, so the driver decided to engage her in a conversation.
"Ma'am, di na po ako sanay sa traffic dito sa Metro Manila. Matagal po ako nawala. Mga 27 years." he said.
This baffled Tan and prompted her to ask if he ever went abroad. This is where she learned that the driver was a retired soldier who left the military. He was assigned to Samar for 7 years, spent 2 years in Cotabato and 18 years in Zamboanga.
He shared his ability to navigate Mindanao even with his eyes closed.
When Tan asked why he left, the conversation soon turned emotional.
Tan noted how he gave accurate details about that fateful day. She was touched by how this man stayed in that kind of life for 27 years, risking his own life for the sake of people he doesn't even know. The driver ended the conversation strong when Tan asked if he ever had plans of leaving the country.
