Exclusive - Erik Matti Breaks Silence On Who Should Fly As The New Darna! Who Is She? Find Out Here!

Mars Ravelo's Darna is an iconic part of Filipino pop culture. So it's no surprise that everytime a new movie of the super hero comes along, the prized part always comes with some intrigue. 

Director Erik Matti gave ABS CBN News an update on the highly coveted role: "Hindi ako makapili. Pero alam naman natin mula noon na si Angel 'yan. So hintayin na lang natin kung siya ba talaga ang i-announce ng ABS-CBN."

When asked if he feels any pressure from the public to cast Angel, he answered: "Kapag nakita mo ang Instagram ko, araw-araw... Mag-post ka ng siopao, 'Angel for Darna.' Mag-post ka ng sunset, 'Angel for Darna' ang nasa Instagram ko." 

The director also confirmed that all the pre-production details are being taken care of and he is itching to start shooting. Angel Locsin, however, has expressed that she is willing to reprise her role but will have to recover from an injury she revealed earlier this year.
