Exclusive - Parents Discover One Final Message From Their Precious Boy Who Passed Away

“No one should ever have to bury a child.”
In the few years he has lived, Leland Shoemake was the apple of his parents' eyes. Sadly, the 6-year-old from Williamson, Georgia lost his battle with Balamuthia Mandrillaris, a brain-eating amoeba, on September 25, 2016.
Parents Tim and Amber left the hospital without their son.
As the mother was going through Leland's things for his funeral, Tim found a note on the living room table where Leland loved to draw. He began to cry while reading this note.
When Tim showed this letter to Amber, the mother cried with him. “To say I lost it was an understatement,” Amber recalled. “We cried together for the longest time.”
From her emotional Facebook post, Amber fondly listed all of his son's wonderful traits
"He was my world. He made me a mother. We struggled so hard to have him. He was a preemie baby but came out screaming and healthy," she wrote.
"He was smart from day one. He knew his abc's, numbers, colors, shapes and 20 sight words by the time he was a year old. He was our little nerd and we loved that about him. He loved school and loved to learn. He loved the history channel, the weather channel, documentaries and anything about history. He loved ships like the titanic and learning about things like WWII. He was perfect." Amber added.
