Everyone dreams of growing old with someone they love. This man was lucky enough to have fulfilled that dream with his wife. But when she died, he felt lost and fell into a deep depression.
82-year-old Dan Peterson lost his wife Mary, and the loss was too much to bear. He spends most of his days sitting and staring at the squirrels outside his home. He didn't have anything to live for anymore so he began waiting for his own inevitable demise. According to him, he lost his purpose. This went on for about 6 months.
But everything changed when he met a 4-year-old girl named Norah at the grocery store one day. The girl waved at him and said: "Hi old person, it's my birthday today." She even asked him for a hug and asked her mom to take a picture of them together. Dan was amazed by the child’s audacity to approach and hug the cranky-looking old man. The moment was even caught by a CCTV camera.
This sparked a beautiful friendship between the two!
Norah and her mom visit Dan at least once a week. Dan believes that Norah was sent by God to give him back his will to live. According to him, she gave him a purpose and that is to watch her grow, which he considers a huge blessing.
