People with deformities are often bullied and alienated. However, this man did not let his deformity stop him from becoming a pop star.
47-year-old Godfrey Baguma has a severe deformity on his head. He has led a difficult life.
"When I was born, my mother looked at me and said that I was not a normal child and she left me. Thankfully my grandmother took care of me." Godfrey said during an interview with Mirror.uk.
"I was scared to go out and mix with people. People would say I wasn't a human being, that I looked like a strange creature. But now I have to accept how I look," he added.
When he was 10 years old, he noticed that his cheeks were swelling and wondered what the cause of it was.
His condition did not stop him from becoming a pop star. Godfrey won Uganda's Most Unusual Looking Man and was given a chance to have a music career.
In spite of his condition, Godfrey is now a pops tar. However, behind all the fame and happiness he still worries that he might pass his condition on to his little daughter.
"Right now I am afraid because I have a little daughter who kind of resembles me. I look at her head and I believe that she might look like me," Godfrey said.
"Sometimes I worry because my children are still very young. I worry about what would happen to them if I died. I think about that a lot now," he added.
Dr. Tony Wilson, Godfrey's doctor, said, "He has very widespread abnormality in his head and pressing on various parts of his brain. His posture is compressing his chest – this is why he's not breathing well."
After all the bullying he received, Godfrey was finally able to feel the love he wasn't able to experience when he was young. His loving wife, Namande Kate supports him and loves him beyond everything.
"Godfrey’s not handsome on the outside, but he has a good heart. I wish people would see him the way I see him," Namande said.
