After his controversial move attending a Bryan Adams concert, PNP Chief Ronaldo Bato was next spotted at the premiere of "Across the Crescent Moon" in Uptown Mall Cinemas in Taguig.
Bato said that he turned up for the film showing as he was invited to go and he saw it as a way to honor the Mamaspano 44-- the group of policemen who heroically underwent an anti-terrorism operation in 2015. "Kinikilala ko po iyong kabayanihan ng aking mga tao kaya po nandito ako ngayon. Kung hindi ako inimbitahan eh hindi ako pupunta dito," he said to the press in the sideline. "But iyon nga, para naman bigyan pansin iyong kabayanihan ng mga namatay na pulis at nagbuwis ng buhay, ito, nandito ako ngayon."
Bato's every move has been crtiticized since the public found out about a South Korean businessman, Jee Ick Joo, who was kidnapped for ransom right under his nose and was literally murdered in Camp Crame by policemen under his watch. Bato turned up in tears and "melting in shame" at the press conference for Joo's death.
After the press conference, Bato promptly turned up at Bryan Adams' concert. When questioned about this choice by House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez Jr., the chief said: ""Matagal nang patay ang biktima noong nanood ako ng concert. Mabuhay ba ang Koreano kung hindi ako manood?"
Matteo thanked Bato for coming to the premiere as it meant a lot to him. Lastly, Bato played down his booming social life with this statement: "Panonoorin ko iyong pelikula na alay para sa kanila. Sana po huwag na itong bigyan ng masamang istorya. Iyon lang po ang sa akin."
