They say that mothers know best and that statement rings true with the scenario that happened to a young boy whose mother dressed up as his father in order to make him happy.

Whitney Kittrell posted a picture on her Facebook account that featured her posing with her son in a blank, loose t-shirt and a cap to hide her hair. She also sported a fake beard to make herself really look like a man.

According to her, she did this because she didn't want her son to miss the ‘Dads and Doughnuts Day’ in his school. Since Kittrell has been a single mom since 2014, she decided to dress up like a dad so her son could come and attend the activities.

Her caption read, “When I became a single mom over 3 years ago I made a promise with myself that I would do anything I could, even if it meant going out of my comfort zone, to give my kids a "normal" life and the same experiences as other kids. We have accomplished a lot.”

“Trips alone, teaching my son how to play catch, killing bugs with minimal screaming, countless memories, and a normal life. But when my kindergartener came home with a paper saying that they were having "dads and doughnuts" my heart kinda sank.” She continued.

“I finally sat him down and asked if he wanted to ask his grandpa to go. He just smiled and said "no. I want you to go. You're my mom and dad". So this morning I gathered up my best dad outfit, painted on some facial hair, and went to breakfast with my sweet son,” she added.

Kittrell stated that she was initially embarrassed, but when her son introduced her to his friends she immediately smiled. Her son’s words were: “This is my mom... she's my dad too so I brought her!"

He even hugged her when she finally left the school and whispered, “Mom... I know that you'll always be there and do anything for me. Thank you. I love you,” punctuated by a kiss on her cheek.
