Exclusive - MUST READ: Check Out This List of Subdivisions and Villages in the Greater Manila Area That Coud Be Affected By 'The Big One'!

Not long after news of the recent earthquake in Surigao made headlines, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) came out with a study that suggests that a big part of Metro Manila may experience a similar tragedy in the near future.

The report was issued by the PHILVOLCS early this week. This was a result of the study that the institute conducted following the magnitude 6.7 quake that shook Surigao del Norte on February 10, 2017.

The report that was also meant as a warning issued by PHIVOLCS did not exactly come as a surprise to most citizens. Rumors of a possible "Big One" have been circulating around the country for years.

Eventually, the rumors were confirmed when PHIVOLCS came out with details regarding the West Valley Fault, the one that they believe could cause a high-intensity quake in Metro Manila. Citizens may remember that PHIVOLCS issued maps tracing the areas affected by the West Valley Fault about a decade ago.

In 2015, popular news site Rappler came out with a list of villages and subdivisions in the greater manila area that could possibly be severely affected by the feared "Big One".
