Facebook user Vicente A. Alcantara III went to his social media account to express his resentment over a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) officer who allegedly disrespected him and his mother. He claimed that the officer allegedly accused him of violating the MMDA's Anti-Littering Law.
According to his Facebook post, Alcantara and his mother just left the LRT Buendia station when an officer wearing an MMDA uniform approached them. Alcantara narrated that the unidentified officer accused him of throwing a bus ticket away on the street, which is strictly prohibited in Manila according to the prohibitions stated in mmda.gov.ph.
Alcantara also added that the officer forcibly asked for his ID and insisted that he had to come with him to a station. Alcantara was with his mother and denied the accusation, countering by saying he did not throw any bus ticket around the area. His mother defended him but the officer yelled at both of them. The officer told his mother to stop meddling in their conversation.
"WAG KANG MAKIALAM DITO HND IKAW ANG KINAKAUSAP KO!" the officer allegedly told them.
Because of the officer's disrespectful behavior, Alcantara chose to vent his frustrations online.
Moments later, Alcantara's mother was able to show the abusive MMDA officer their bus ticket to prove that her son did not do what the officer was accusing them of doing.
The officer then kept his distance away from the two citizens and pointed fingers at Alacantara. The officer then allegedly cursed at them which caused Alcantara to curse back. Alcantara also said that the officer positioned his fists as if he wanted to engage in a brawl with him.
Alcantara added that another man approached him, claiming that he is also a victim of the MMDA officer. Just like what Alcantara experienced, the officer also accused him of throwing away a bus ticket around the area.
They decided to ask for the officer's name from the other MMDA officers in the surrounding area but they refused to name him. Alcantara then took a picture of him and posted it on his Facebook account to gain the attention of the public.
Netizens bombarded Alcantara's post with comments stating their disappointment over the officer's attitude.
