After Angel Locsin backed out of the role due to health issues, the search is on for the next 'Darna' actress.
And for Liza Soberano fans out there, here's some sweet news you'd want to look forward to.
Liza's manager and showbiz columnist Ogie Diaz just confirmed that the actress was one of the choices to take on the iconic Pinay character.
“Isa siya sa mga choices,” Ogie told showbiz press reporters during an interview.
And as her manager, he believes that the role would be a significant notch on her belt as an actress.
“Itong Darna, super hero, maraming may gusto na gumanap pa ring Darna," added Ogie.
Though Liza may have some large shoes to fill, Ogie said he will definitely accept the role for his talent.
“Imagine-in mo yung history ng mga gumanap na Darna, like si ate Vi (Vilma Santos), so kung si Liza ang mapipili for the role, siyempre tatangapin namin 'yun.”
Unlike the prospect of the iconic role, Ogie, however, didn't express as much enthusiasm at the thought of letting Liza join beauty pageants.
"Paano kung hindi siya manalo, Sa tingin ko hindi na naman niya kailangang sumali sa Bb. Pilipinas kasi Liza Soberano na siya," he explained.
According to him, training for the pageant would get in the way of her projects.
“At ang dami-dami niyang raket, kaya hindi niya na mabibigyan ng oras yung training para sa Bb. Pilipinas."
It would certainly be interesting to see Liza take on the role. Even more interesting is how she would sound when she transforms into "Darna!"
