In February this year, the romantic comedy, 'My Ex and Why's' made its debut in cinemas. The film is reportedly the third film featuring Kapamilya darlings Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil in the lead roles. The film was produced by Star Cinema and was directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
On Sunday, March 5, 2017, ABS-CBN NEWS came out with a short video of Kapamilya actress, Liza Soberano. The video was apparently filmed during an event where Liza had to make a speech thanking fans and supporters for the success of 'My Ex and Why's'.
According to ABS-CBN news, the film has reportedly earned Php341 Million worldwide as of this writing. The film is said to be Liza and Enrique's most successful film so far.
During her turn on the microphone for the event shown in the video by ABS-CBN, Liza got the chance to express her gratitude towards her fans and supporters.
It turns out that the actress did not expect the film to become such a big hit since she was afraid that she did not perform as well as she should have.
“I really didn’t (think the film would be successful) because I felt like I did a bad job but hearing you all say that you guys really enjoyed the movie and that there was so much good feedback, I am just so grateful and thankful,” said the actress who couldn't hold back her tears.
Aside from thanking her fans, she also thanked her mentor, Cathy Garcia-Molina:
“I basically started with her doing ‘Got to Believe,’ ‘Forevermore’ and then this movie. She never gave up on me even during the times when I felt like I couldn’t give my best, when I felt like I wasn’t delivering what she wanted me to deliver, she was there."
The actress ended her little speech with the following:
“To all the supporters, to all the LizQuen fans na paulit-ulit nagpa-block screening, thank you guys. We wouldn’t be here right now celebrating kung hindi dahil sa inyo. Thank you so much."
