Filipinos are obviously fans of South Korean culture. From Koreanovelas to K-Pop groups and songs, and even the Korean fashion has been adapted by the Pinoys. 

Surely, going to Korea is a dream that some Filipinos have. However, we all know how difficult it is to go to such a beautiful country. The first problem is the cost of the whole travel. Second is the gruelling process of getting a visa in order to enter the country.

Good news for everyone who wishes to visit our neighboring country that is home to some of our most beloved Asian stars! Soon, you’ll be able to visit Korea without having to get yourself a visa. 

In an article by Manila Bulletin last April 13, Philippine Ambassador to Korea Raul Hernandez confirmed that the South Korean government is planning on making a visa-free entry to the country possible. 

According to Hernandez, citizens from different Southeast Asian countries, including the Philippines, with a connecting flight to Incheon International Airport coming from Jeju Island will be allowed to enter and stay in the mainland area for a total of five days. They expect this to start in June this year. 

Apart from this, the Korean government also announced their plans to issue an electronic visa to Southeast Asian tourists in order to avoid the long lines and risk of getting denied in obtaining a non-electronic visa. 

The Korean government is doing these in the hope of boosting their country’s tourism as well as to counteract the effects of the current tension between them and China.
