BEIJING, CHINA -- Bongbong Marcos will replace Vice President Leni Robredo in her seat, according to Rodrigo Duterte last Wednesday if the court favors him in his electoral protest.
"Si Bongbong, kung manalo siya sa protest niya, baka bago ang ating bise president," the president said in front of the Filipino audience in Beijing.
(Bongbong, if he wins the protest, would be our new vice president.)
Bongbong's sister Imee Marcos were on the stage when the president was speaking.
Marcos filed an election protest against the current vice president last June 29, with claims that massive and blatant fraud took place during the national elections.
He said it paved way for the former Camarines Sur congresswoman and former DILG secretary Jesse Robredo's widow to win the vice-presidential race.
Marcos was just short of close 200,000 votes against Robredo. On the first day of vote counting, Marcos was leading as votes in the Northern Luzon, where the Marcoses have a strong influence, were counted but when votes from Southern Luzon and the rest of the Philippines were being canvassed, Robredo took the lead.
Duterte has openly expressed his support to Marcos and the family of the late dictator as his father is a Marcos loyalist.
