Last Saturday, a boy passed away in a house fire. When authorities found him, they found a teddy bear and a dog next to him. They believed that the dog was trying to protect the little boy, according to the Brian Schaeffer, spokesperson for the Spokane Fire Department, Seattle, U.S.A.
He also said that the fire broke out by 11:30 P.M. last Friday and the dog who is also a terrier mixed breed also passed away together with the boy.
Two adults and three children got a chance to escape The fire.
“The dog stayed behind in an attempt to protect the boy, firefighters believe, and the fire was so intense that it melted the metal on the frame of the boy’s bed,” Schaeffer said.
A man named Jerry Atabelo who lives just right across the street said that when he was about getting ready to go to bed, he heard screaming and saw flames. He immediately told his wife to call 911 and took his 150 foot water hose to put down the fire.
People screamed that there is still a kid inside the house, so what they did is they sprayed water on the window trying to put down the fire there.
“The battery in the house’s smoke detector had been removed and it was not working,” Schaeffer said.
The reason behind the fire is still under investigation together with the cause of the passing of the child.
