Many concerned Filipino citizens already shared their opinions regarding the way President Rodrigo Duterte is handling the country's foreign relations. One of these citizens is a TV personality and Filipino journalist, Kat De Catro.
De Castro, who is a daughter of former Vice President and TV News anchor Noli De Castro, has long been known as a genuine Duterte supporter. This time, De Castro appealed to the masses for them to reconsider Duterte’s decisions for the country.
De Castro turned to her Facebook account to express her personal views regarding the matter.
De Castro claimed that the Ph-China ties will do more good economically for the country. She cited tourism as one of the major industries in the Philippines that will benefit from the relationship of the two Asian countries. She mentioned that China imposed a travel ban on the Philippines because of the Quirino Grandstand Hostage Crisis where the majority of the victims are Chinese and because of the South China Sea dispute. Now that the ban has been already lifted because of the renewed ties between the two, she said that it will cause tourism in the Philippines to boom in the following years.
De Castro then went on to mention how she felt every time the president uses colorful language in front of the international community. She said that such act stirs controversy. However, despite all criticisms thrown at the president of the Philippines, she remains faithful to him. The journalist ended her statement with:
“I believe he’s a mastermind when it comes to the chess of politics. Instead of criticizing his every move, why don’t we, as Filipinos, support him? The President is very proud of our country. He believes in our capabilities as Filipinos. Think hard. Do you think the President will sell the country that he sacrificed himself for?”
