As the 2017 Miss Universe coronation night approaches, the pageant’s candidates and their teams are exerting more and more effort in preparation for the momentous occasion. The assurance that everything will be perfect is a must for them at this point.
Fashion designer Rhett Eala ensured that the Philippines' bet Maxine Medina will look perfectly stunning as he revealed the head piece she will be wearing as part of her national costume. What makes this notable is the fact that the headdress alone costs over Php 1 Million.
“For the headdress alone and the earrings -- I just saw the earrings today -- it’s more than a million (pesos) for sure,” Eala revealed with ABS-CBN News.
The designer provided the cost of Maxine's headdress, which is made of south sea pearls from Jewelmer, but did not reveal specific details about the national costume in its entirety. As a result, many fans are eagerly anticipating the big reveal on the 65th Miss Universe pageant’s coronation night.
To appease fans, the designer provided a description for the dress by stating:
"Very elegant. It’s very sexy. It’s also very modern. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. The national costume is also her choice.”
Eala has been designing Maxine's costumes and gowns since her days in the Binibining Pilipinas competition last year. He also designed the gown that she recently used during the Governor's Ball.
ABS-CBN also reported that Eala made three gowns for Maxine to choose from as her evening gown for the pageant. Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. chairperson Stella Araneta approved all three gowns. Eala claimed that the final decision regarding the gowns is up to Maxine.
"The final decision is with her. I don’t know which one she’s going to pick. I can’t really say na ito 'yung isusuot niya. All of them were approved by madam but the final selection will be Maxine," Eala added.
Eala also designed Maxine’s gown for the gala event.
