At one point or another, we all have probably joked about going mad and burning down a building or shooting everyone on sight due to our hunger.
However, no one ever really had the guts to do these since food is so convenient nowadays. Our generation had been tagged as impatient due to the "instant" products and services available at our beck and call.
So when one man finally walked the talk, things got heated (literally).
On January 2, 2017 at midnight, a 16-year-old boy from Higashi Osaka City, Japan was craving for a particular dish. He wanted to eat curry. Unfortunately, the restaurant he went to was closed. Famished and frustrated, the boy unbelievably decided to burn down the restaurant to appease his anger.
On the initial investigation of the authorities, the police were clueless as to who the culprit was and why would he set random stuff on fire.
Aside from the restaurant, the boy also started a fire 200 meters away from the resto's storehouse, thereby setting a street side banner at a car dealership on fire. The other two fires were also found close to the first two fires. Reportedly, a bicycle and garbages were found in flames too.
The security cameras were able to identify the suspected young boy due to his resemblance to the man caught in the salvaged footage. The authorities were only able to arrest the boy, who worked part-time close to the area, on March 7 a few weeks after the incident.
Fortunately, there had been no casualties caused by the fire.
The teenager insisted that he was so hungry and it made him angry. Makes sense. right?
"I went to eat some curry, but the restaurant was closed. I got angry and used my lighter to start a fire," he explained.
But more than being appalled by the reckless decision of the young boy, many were rather amused.
"I'd do the same. Nothing should ever stand between a man and his food," pointed out netizen Magnus Dared.
"Great now you won't get the curry ever, lol" said Shereen Augustine.
Although many found the incident a bit too funny than it should be, a certain netizen pointed out that curry is a very big deal in Japan.
"If you play, read or watch Japanese media long enough, you will know that for some people curry is a real serious business," the unnamed social media user commented.
However, many advised that rather than burning properties down, he should have also considered McDonald's instead.
