Love knows no boundaries. In fact, there’s also an old saying which states that “love is blind.”

Time and again, different people have proven that love is indeed blind especially this couple who went against all odds in order to be with each other. Their love story seems as though it came straight out of a romantic film. 

Akram and Sally seem like your typical couple but if you know them personally, you’ll be aware that they come from different worlds. Unlike Romeo and Juliet though, where the protagonists come from different walks of life, these two come from different religions. 

Muslim-born Akram has made up his mind to marry Catholic-born Sally. Despite many of their close friends and loved ones telling them that they shouldn’t wed, ther couple still wants to push through due to their intense love for one another. 

“Everyone kept telling me I should marry a girl from my community but it was impossible,” Akram said. “I couldn’t stay away from her,” he added.

The North and South couple met seven years ago in Aswan found on the eastern side of the Nile river. They did what any typical couples are known to do such as going out on a date, flirting with each other, and just enjoying their time together.

However, it wasn’t all good times for them. Their seven years spent together was very difficult especially because their parents forbid them to see each other. Some of their friends were also greatly against their relationship.

One day, the two just decided to get hitched but they wanted to do it at night so as not to cause a commotion. 

“We’re the first people to marry outside of our religion here. That’s very difficult, especially for my parents,” Akram said.

Also, they didn’t think any church would take them. Luckily, someone agreed to wed them before the altar. 

“I have always loved him, but I didn’t think we would be allowed to marry. My father said no for a long time, but now the imam and the pastor have agreed, it’s not so bad for him,” Sally said.

Now, the two are happily married and ready as ever to start their own family.
