But for this year, Dion was filled with intense heartbreak as she was faced with the sad truth of her husband passing away.

On January 14, 2016, her husband René Angélil passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

Only two days later, Celine’s older brother Daniel also died from cancer.

She fought through her pain her new single “Recovering”, which she performed as a tribute to her loved ones in a televised concert called “Stand Up for Cancer”.

Before her performance, Dion confessed to her audience about how she missed her husband everyday, and explained that his absence has impacted her life.

Dion’s father Adhémar also died of cancer in 2003, so his image was featured with her brother and husband on a screen behind Céline.

At the end of the song, she broke down in tears when facing the images of her deceased loved ones.

The song was originally written by the rockstar Pink, who offered the song personally to Dion.
