This fan went over and above his admiration for this Olympian and probably saved a life.
Australian gold medallist and pool star Mack Horton, 20 years old, won the 400 meter freestyle during the Rio Olympics and his pictures were shown all over the world.
As fans congratulated the Olympians, one of them contacted the Australian swim team and pointed out that Horton should probably see a specialist because of a potentially cancerous mole.
The swimmer has now had surgery in Melbourne to remove the mole and posted a picture on Instagram of him giving the thumbs up sign and showing a bandage on his chest.
As well as the photo Horton posted: "Shout out to the person that emailed the swim team doctor and told me to get my mole checked out. Good call. Very good call."
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with statistics showing that approximately 66 per cent of people in the country will be diagnosed with the disease by the time they are 70. Around 2,000 Australians die each year from skin cancer.
Majority of skin cancers in Australia are caused by exposure to UV radiation in sunlight.
