You may have been hearing less and less about Nadine Samonte during the past few years. That's mostly because the actress and former Starstruck contestant has been busy with her new life as a wife and mother.
According to Nadine, she has been very particular about keeping most of the details about her life private after she officially tied the knot with businessman Richard Chua in 2013.
In an interview published on GMA's website, Nadine reportedly said the following about her decision to keep her distance from the spotlight:
“Nung debut ko nga hindi ko naramdaman na nag-debut ako eh. Kasi parang sobrang daming cameras, sobrang gulo. Hindi kapag katulad ‘yung kasal namin it’s very solemn. 'Yung ramdam na ramdam mo na hindi ka nagti-taping mas better 'tsaka less issue, mas tahimik, hindi pinagpi-piyestahan ‘yung buhay mo.”
But Nadine also said that married life wasn't all that peachy as fans would probably think.
Recently, the actress made a special appearance on the popular health show PinoyMD. On the episode, Nadine opened up about the difficulties she had to got through when she was still pregnant with her daughter, Heather Sloane.
She was also given the chance to talk about the autoimmune disease that she was diagnosed with before giving birth to her baby girl.
Nadine revealed in PinoyMD that she was diagnosed with Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome shortly before conceiving her child.
“Nagulat lang kami on the process na kami nang paggagawa ng baby dun ko na nalaman I have APAS. Nag-series of blood test kami then ‘yun nga naging positive ako sa category 1, 2, and 4. So ‘yung 3 and 5 negative," she said.
Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome or APAS is a type of disease that attacks a person's immune system.
Nadine said she went through a delicate pregnancy with Heather Sloane due to the disease.
“Mayroon akong two times injections a day tapos I’m drinking 53 to 56 tablets a day lahat ng pampakapit, lahat ng vitamins, minerals, calcium para sa anak ko,” Nadine shared.
Fortunately, she had no trouble giving birth to Heather Sloane on August 27, 2016.
She believes that the difficulties she had to undergo during her pregnancy were all worth it when she finally got to hold her baby girl in her arms.
“Sobrang worth it talaga. Totoo ‘yung sinasabi nila na kahit gaano kahirap na naramdaman mo paglabas naman ng anak mo iba, parang nawala lahat ng hirap. Kahit nandiyan siya every time na gigising kami ng husband ko sa umaga, lagi kong sinasabi dun sa husband ko na parang hindi pa rin ako naniniwala, parang hindi totoo ito ‘yung ganun so iba ‘yung saya,” Nadine stated.
